my life as is

Archive for March 2010

Well expect for when I`m in Cairo of course. I`m really hoping I can stick to this. I have seen reduced my drink intake would drink at the office and when I get home. I had stopped taking carbonated drinks but was having them these past couple of months. So in Cairo no carbonated drinks whats so ever.

I did start this yesterday went into Prince – local supermarket and walked out without getting the drink and pop corn. I had taken two instead of two boxes or ten just to drink till we leave tomorrow and I just said to myself at the till point. I have to start today postponing it wont work. There is no way i would buy it and not drink it. Which raised another issue from DH. He doesn’t mind not having juice he has since reduced from drinking a whole 1 litre at once to sharing to just water with meals. but our guests what we will give them. Malt is the answer. OMG this drink is a delicacy here but it tastes like mushonga issh like that horrible cough mixture I can’t stand it at all. Swallowing one sip its hell. So will stock up on that for our guests not that we have many of them lol.

So for the month of April I will

No I’m not going on a water only fast I will just not be drinking any drink whatsoever.

Doing this will help me lose weight I hope and reduce my period pains because this month I suffered I cried and cried. It better work. DH claims sugar increases period pain and my neighbour says so too.

Those who will be spending time at home please eat your heart out 🙂

The largest one in Egypt is the one built for King Khufu in Giza. Khufu’s pyramid known as the great pyramid, is the only one of the seven as wonders of the world that still exists. Egyptian pyramids were originally built to serve as tombs for kings and queens, then visit Sakkara more ancient site than that of Giza contains tombs and temples Sakkara was the principal necropolis for the ancient city of Memphis, visit Dahshur there you will see the Red Pyramid Located in South Saqqara stand the pyramids of Dahshur . The Red Pyramid and the Bent Pyramid are about 2 km south of the Mastaba Faraoun. The constructor of these pyramids is thought to have been Snofru (2575 – 2551 BC), who was the first ruler of the 4th Dynasty. Snofru built these two pyramids and is thought to have built the pyramid at Maidoun. His son was Cheops who continued his constructive tendencies & The  Bent Pyramid is unique for two reasons. The first is the angle change. There are two theories for this change. The first is that the builders may have gotten tired and wanted to reduce the volume and to finish faster. Another is that when the pyramid at Maidoun collapsed, the architect lost his nerve and changed the angle. The angle at Maidoun was 52 degrees as is the base of the Bent Pyramid. At the bend, the angle is changed to 43.5 degrees up to the peak ; finally you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Cairo here we come.

Outfits like these make me miss zim so much. There is no way I can ever wear that here. Serioulsy I prefer the Zim cold to the 9ja heat.

Sorry I have been MIA well not really but since I started this blog I had promised to write at least twice weekly just to keep things up to date. So Tuesday morning I don’t know where from but it just hit me that I should do my masters etc and I had always wanted to do my masters away from home take a year out and spend it in a different city. So my preferred choice is UK. Ok so not really a city but country but focus here on the different part. Could be anywhere in the UK.

I always felt that my siblings & younger cousins were more worldly ( as in exposed more) because they went to uni away from home and that’s why I always wanted to be away from home when I do my masters and all of my plans I always thought I would still be single by now. I never planned on getting married so early and if at all but guess what. I made God laugh by making my own plans which I had no control of.

Seriously if there is one thing I never planned for was marriage and my wedding day. My cousins already knew what she wanted for her wedding way before she met the guy. Guess she wanted it and always known that she will get married. Well better for her because she is/would have been prepared for it. For me it was just hard. Especially getting to this point where we are right now. People say the first year is the honeymoon year well not for me for me it was horror year. The fears of failing kept me trying and trying really hard and guess it’s paying off right now because I now more than confident that I made the best decision of my life and as each day passes I realise I am truly blessed.

Taku asked am I running away from DH and the answer to that is NO. If I had planned this last year the answer would have been hell yes. Yet today I totally want to do it to get out of the way so that I can totally be prepared for baby. Yes you read right baby. I turning the big 3-oooh sometime soon (lol) and would want a baby soon after that and I vowed to be better prepared for all the baby drama that will go on after that.

So right now the project I’m working on is looking for the best master’s course and college within my budget. I plan to start this year and I really hope I can work till it’s time for me to go the UK for the program.

What is scaring me is I will use up all my savings and will have nothing left. I really don’t want to go back to those years 2005/2006 when I never had money for anything I wanted. I know I will get past that stage but knowing I have 20grand usd in my bank account for anything I want is really comforting. Yep I have a DH but really I come on every girl needs a nest egg for spare of the moment shopping spree without restrictions lol

I`m so excited.  Just got the first draft and yep there are some things you need to leave to the experts. LOL. I tried coming up with a drawing of what I want and I gave up because it wasnt making sense at all and would get stuck. So check out what I got from Lloyd.
So neat hey. And (no price for guessing this) I do want to make some changes. I do love it but this is a money-making project and in my area most people want a room at most two to rent so it has to be flexible. My target though is 2 families and one single or very small family.

I also got the construction estimate and that’s about 25k excluding the land ouch triple ouch. My budget is 15 for everything. But what I will do for now is get two of the apartments completed first.  This is so exciting!!!!! Totally lifted up my mood. 🙂

I spotted these yesterdays.

Not the colours but the mirrors though I'm not quite happy with these. But you get the drift??

something is quite not right about this room besides the mirrors which i sort of think they are too small

and it got me thinking. Why do I love them was it because of Dubai I`m not sure but all I know it was love at first sight.

You should have seen this room at night pure heaven.

These really does it for me Gotta love the mirrors. Hope someday soon will finish up this bedroom. I read somewhere that decor is a continuous process but I just want to get to the end of the tunnel because isn’t that the light right there. I can see it ooooohhhhhh.

Seriously the lamp and mirrors are calling me. While I was doing my nightly blog reads I saw this.

mood board / idea board

This is what the pros at Young one love say and  I qoute “We’d love to see one of these mirror (see mood board number 9) hung on either side of the bed right above each bedside table to reflect light from the lamps and add a lot more sparkle and dimension to that entire wall. It’s an old Candice Olson trick that we love, and it creates the look of pricy mirrored sconces with table lamps and regular old mirrors instead of having to hardwire anything. Gotta love a shortcut that looks like a million bucks.”

Issh I`m so inspired. That seat better get here and fast.

Seriously I know that in Life there are things you have to live with and here in Lagos its no light (as they say it but they mean no electricity from the power company), no proper sewage system or drainage systems ohh they do have but are open so therefore you see everything and people use them as dumping pipes so definitely are blocked, and OKADAs. These guys are a nightmare really but i have learnt to live with them. I treat them like they are lil kids who don’t know any road rules and really whatever happens between them and me its me who is at fault and they really stand by one another. They are like bees buzzing (hooting and shouting). It’s definately one war I can never win so I always watch them carefully and avoid them like the plague.

Yesterday was a good day till about 3minutes away from home. Meet a bit of traffic and was waiting for our turn to move. These cheats/thieves masquerading as police men tried to stop an okado so as to get 20naira at most from him. The guy swayed and fell onto my car, got up and ran away. There is a huge dent on my car right now. I was so pissed I cried because there is nothing i can do. I really wish I was in USA and I would sue the police department. It is their fault if they where doing the correct thing these guys wouldn’t try to run away from them but because a holiday is approaching they act like vultures and I had to suffer for it. I took fotos but it’s just too depressing. DH tried cleaning away the okada marks but still………….
